Abbott Farms & Fruit Market
VIEW DETAILS
From a roadside stand to six fully stocked markets. It all started back in ’55 when our grand folks opened a tiny peach stand on a two-lane country road
in hopes of earning enough extra money to buy one of those new TV sets that were all the rage. Word of their tasty, tree-ripened peaches spread quickly,
and so did Abbott Farms’ variety. Local-grown and mornin’ picked melons and vegetables were soon added to the assortment, as well as a pantry’s worth
of chow-chow, jams, jellies, pickles, peanuts, pecans, salsas, syrups, and honey. Having worked up a thirst with all those goodies, Gram and Gramps
set about satisfying it with our now-famous Abbott Farms ciders made fresh each season with South Carolinas finest peaches and berries. -

Belue Farms
VIEW DETAILS
In 1955, James and Betty Belue ventured into farming with 45 acres of peach trees and a packing shed. Ten years later, they moved their packing business
to Parris Bridge Road, sold peaches fresh from the fields, and the rest is, as they say, history. Today, Belue Farms raises fruit, vegetables, cattle
and grain, and sits adjacent to Belue Farms Natural Foods Market which specializes in local, natural and organic foods. Working in harmony with nature,
Belue Farms takes pride in sustainable farming practices. This begins with high-quality soil and water to sustain no-till farming which protects the
environment and yields healthier harvests. Because seeds are planted directly over the remnants of the previous year’s crop, without plowing, no-till
farming minimizes soil erosion and reduces energy demands. In addition, the farm recycles manure from its pasture for a natural fertilizer. This attention
to detail has earned Belue Farms a stellar reputation for producing exceptional grass-fed Angus beef, strawberries perfect right to the bottom of the
bucket, and SC’s most flavorful peaches. -

Cook’s Farm
VIEW DETAILS
When Claude Cook died in 1960, his peach trees were three years old and just about ready to begin bearing fruit. Raymond, the oldest son, continued to
farm the trees and work at his full-time job. For several years Raymond’s wife, Barbara, and Larry, the youngest son, sold the peaches under a small
oak tree beside the driveway. As the business grew it was moved to its present location in the front of the cement block building where Claude had
operated a country store. In 1995 the building was remodeled adding more shed space, and the front of the original building was removed to move the
business off the busy highway. In 2000, the business expanded to include strawberries. After more than 40 years, peaches are still grown by the Cook
family, hand-graded, and sold by the basket. We also sell strawberries and vegetables. Please call for current hours of operation. Hours are seasonal. -
Cordray’s
VIEW DETAILS
For years, we’ve hand raised cattle for our own use. Now we’d like to raise cattle for your family. We have fresh and frozen all natural local beef available in our on-farm store during August to January.
Our quantities are very limited. We process only a few cattle a year. It takes about 2 years for a steer to mature. As you’ll see when you come to visit, our cows graze at will on grass and hay. We grind our own feed from locally grown corn, soybean meal and molasses to help “finish” them during the last few months. They never receive antibiotics, artificial growth hormones or anything that cattle didn’t get 100 years ago when Cordrays first started raising all natural beef. We’d love to have you join our family to eat the healthiest, most delicious beef you’ve ever had! We take reservations for the next beef harvest. Visit their website for additional hours of operation.

McArthur Farms
VIEW DETAILS
We started with 20 acres and a tent in a field….literally! Then we grew to 4 tents. Rebecca was working full time as a registered nurse and farming full time as well. It was at this point that she decided to focus all of her efforts into growing her dream, McArthur Farms. In 2007, we built our current farm market. The buiding was designed on a legal pad by Rebecca (she still has the pencil drawing). The market building is made from split Cypress Trees out of the South Carolina swamp bogs. McArthur Farms currently owns 180 acres of farm land and rents an additional 250 acres. We grow a variety of fruits, vegetables, and traditional row crops. Our specialties include our Super sweet strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

McLeod Farms # 1
VIEW DETAILS
The orchards have been in the McLeod family since 1916. Owner Kemp McLeod represents the fourth generation to work the family orchards. He learned the operation from his father, Campbell McLeod. It takes about 40 employees to run the farm year-round. However, during the peach season (late May through August), the numbers swell to over 200. Workers can be found picking, grading, packing, and preparing shipments for millions of pounds of peaches to all parts of the U.S. and Canada. At the height of the season, daylight to dusk workdays are not unusual. At McLeod Farms, peaches are picked every day. The fruit is then sent through an ice-cold water bath to slow the ripening process. After being sealed with an ultra-light wax coating that closes the pores of the peaches to keep them fresh, they are then sorted by size, shape, and color. All of our peaches are hand-graded and selected for shipment to individuals and commercial customers. The same grading process is used to select peaches to be sold in our retail sales areas..

River Run Farms
VIEW DETAILS
The centerpiece of River Run Farms will always be their 100 percent grass-fed beef. Ray Oliver has spent his whole life on a farm, and he runs River Run with his wife Nancy and their son Les and his wife Paige. It___s hard to get good marbling on grass-fed beef, so Oliver and his family go through extra measures to ensure the beef their Black Angus cows produce will be tasty. The grass Oliver plants is high in sugar, so the cows have succulent feed that will translate into succulent meat. It takes three years to bring a River Run cow to slaughter weight. After slaughter, all the meat is dry-aged for 21 days for additional flavor. The Olivers also have an organic kiwi farm, turning leftover kiwis into sweet jam. Their number one goal is sustainability, and they do as much as possible to limit carbon emissions. You can purchase kiwis, ice cream, and beef at their farm.

Seven Seas Seafood Market
VIEW DETAILS
In the 1970’s, Phil Conklin was doing his patriotic duty with the U.S. Navy. While on shore leave in Charleston, he wandered up to Murrells Inlet and fell in love with the place. This was where he wanted to spend the rest of his life. After his military stint was over, Phil worked aboard several of the top charter fishing boats in Miami, Florida, spending his days on the water and hob-knobbing with the rich and famous, but he never forgot about Murrells Inlet. Several years later, opportunity came knocking. Phil and several of the Inlet___s commercial fishing boat skippers opened a seafood co-op here, offering fresh-off-the-boat seafood at prices everyone could afford. It was an idea that resonated with the public and within a few years, Seven Seas Seafood went from rented space in the back of a local warehouse to its current location on Highway 17 Business in Murrells Inlet. Phil’s son Chris is at the helm now, bringing the same fresh gourmet quality seafood to the public without the gourmet prices.
